The Daily Press – Toa Payoh

Visited my bestie in Toa Payoh sometime around May 2015, and we wanted to have small bites at The Daily Press. Plus they were having a one-for-one drink promotion, perfect for the coffee addicts we are.

The food menu consisted of mostly sandwiches and three dishes to share. A plenty of drinks to choose from – coffee, tea, chocolate, juices, floats, sodas, slushies and beers. We decided on trying three sandwiches and an item to share with our respective drinks.

ABC
ABC Sandwich SGD$11

ABC stands for Apple, Bacon and Cheddar together with multi-grain bread. Apples adding a refreshing twist and acidity to the crispy bacon and rich cheddar cheese, a perfect combination that doesn’t feel overwhelming filling.

mushrooms
Mushrooms Sandwich SGD10

Generous portion of mushrooms with caramelised leek, together with Brie Cheese in between the Ciabatta bread. We all love mushrooms and this was a savoury sweet sandwich that was balanced with that brie cheese. And that Cibatta bread was still crispy from the toast. Totally yums!

koreanfriedchicken
Korean “Fried” Chicken Sandwich SGD12

Spicy crispy fried chicken with their house-made kimchi sandwiched with crispy Ciabatta bread. For those who love spice, this is just perfect. The tantalising taste of kimchi together with the spice on the chicken skin in between the warm crispy Ciabatta Bread. Definitely something unique.

Caulimacncheese
Cauliflower Mac N Cheese

This was the highlight for me. Because anything with cauliflower is a winner and who doesn’t love macaroni and cheese?! The sweetness from the cauliflower, with the rich cheese and springy macaroni, the balance was just right! Plus it was piping hot, and I love my food hot. Really liked this item to share, but I think they have removed it from their current menu. Please bring it back? 😦

Apologies that I do not have pictures of the coffee but do visit their facebook page for more pictures. I had the latte and it was pretty good (I had two cups because of the promotion). The ambience is perfect to do some reading or some work on a laptop, with a cuppa coffee and when you are hungry just grab a sandwich!

If you are heading down, do download the app Holler Out (Available on iOS and Andriod) and enter the promo code “gastronomysg” to enjoy 10% off total spending of $30!
